Opened insulin expiration

Get reminders before your opened insulin expires, without writing it on your calendar.

Opened insulin expiration

From now on, Diablesse reminds you before your insulin expires after being opened β€” without writing it on your phone's calendar.

Every insulin, after first use, has a discard date (which varies by type β€” for example, 28, 42, or 56 days). The app calculates that period and reminds you in advance.

How to enable it

  • Open Settings β†’ Profile and scroll to "Opened insulin expiration".
  • You'll see two independent toggles: Basal and Rapid. Turn on the one(s) you use.
  • Enter "Opened on" β€” the date you started using the current vial/pen.
  • Enter the shelf life after opening, in days (according to your insulin's leaflet).
  • Done: the app shows how many days are left and the expiration date, with colors β€” green, orange when it's close, and red when it expires or has expired.

    When you're notified

You get notifications 7 days, 3 days, and 1 day before expiration, and on the day itself.

πŸ”” These are important alerts: they appear even with Focus / Do Not Disturb modes on β€” just like medication reminders.

When you start a new insulin

When you open a new vial or pen, tap "I started a new vial/pen". The app restarts the countdown from today and reschedules the reminders automatically.

    Your information is kept

The expiration setting is synced to the cloud (it appears on all your devices) and is included in the backup. So if you restore a backup or switch devices, the tracking continues.

πŸ’‘ Tip: the Basal and Rapid tracking is separate, so you can follow both insulins at the same time, each with its own date.

    ---

⚠️ Discard dates vary by insulin type and manufacturer. Always check the leaflet and the guidance of your doctor or pharmacist. Diablesse is a support tool and does not replace that information.
